First I made a hand drawn of the side view of the original WW Beetle, then I re-designed in a cartoonish style, making it curvier and round. It was modeled using Maya 2008 with Polygons, taking advantage of the proxy mesh feature, instead of the old Sub-D.

I used the Mental Ray car paint shade, the rest are default blinns with HDR reflections and hand painted textures from photoshop. You can also check my hand drawn concept on my website.
Thanks!

This image was not really meant to be a 3D Artwork, it was solely planned and produced for my website layout as a seamless background.
I think it took two months from ideas, sketches to actual modeling. I used everything here: Maya (for Fire, Skeleton Rigging, Scene, Lights, Render), Adobe After Effects for Fire Animation (check my website for the animated version), Adobe Flash to publish the animations, and Adobe Photoshop for post production.

This is the full layout of my online portfolio. I added flash animations all over, at the television, glassy globe, candles, and a hellfire at the bottom. Everything was modeled and rendered in 3D with Maya, and later on Post Produced with Adobe Photoshop. Check my Online Portfolio for the full animated work.

I also used ZBrush for the skulls and bones.
